A stunning statement necklace, or in my case a whole bunch!

I am a big fan of statement jewellery, especially necklaces, i think they make an outfit - whether to finish off a party dress or jazz up a simple t-shirt and jeans, it is the perfect accessory. I love nothing more than adding a beautiful statement piece to my work outfit's, it truly brightens my day, especially when i need to be polished yet keep my fashionista edge. I would love to be able to wear delicate jewellery but it just doesn't fit with my personality so when it comes it to necklace's "Bigger is defiantly better".

Most of my current collection above is from Accessorize (i know i am addicted) but i also have styles from New Look, H&M, Oliver Bonas plus a fabulous rainbow EBay find, although i do feel my collection is missing a J Crew piece (LOVE all of the current collection) but sadly I just can't justify the expense, even on such a piece of stunning wearable art - they have a truly talented team of designers. I am very impressed though that all brands, both high street and designer seem to be embracing this oversized trend including some unexpected ones such as M&S. I never thought i would see such a beautiful modern piece as the one below from the quintessentially English brand and at such a great price point, this along with a few others have made my inner magpie's wish list:

1. Persian Leaves - J Crew £125
2. Bespoke Pink Flower - Next £35
3. Bead & Diamante - Marks and Spencer £25
4. Silver stone link - Primark £12
5. Lara necklace - Accessorize £25
6. Bright fabric folk -Topshop £18.50

Which pieces would make your jewellery wishlist?

So Good Friday was my birthday, and i wanted to share with you the day and some of the fabulous goodies I was lucky enough to receive.

First of all was a gorgeous tribal inspired necklace I got from the lovely ladies at work - from Oliver Bonas, a store I had never heard of before but was told was total Alison store and I have to say I did have a quick look on the website and I concur, particularly liked the homeware pieces, so think I may need to pay a store visit next time I am in London. If you too haven't heard of this brand, make sure to check out the website oliverbonas.com

Then came some dvd's from hubby - Mr Selfridge and season 3 of Buffy the Vampire slayer (a favourite from my teenage years that i still love to watch, and the only season I was missing). A selection of randomness from by best friend - beautiful hand blown glass bead necklace, a fashion illustration book and an amazing pair of earrings made from recycled bicycle inner tubes (fashion truly being green). Finally an Accessorize voucher and also one for Thomas Sabo from my brother in law (already eyeing up a cute cat charm with sparkly eyes). The remainder of my presents came in the form of money, as the only thing I really want at the moment is house stuff which I can't have yet so easier to bank to go towards some new goodies once we move.

Due to my birthday falling over the Easter weekend I decided spending some time at home with family was a great idea, so we spent the weekend out walking enjoying the sunny weather, had an amazing Nepalese dinner and plenty of cake! A lovely weekend with my hubby, parents, crazy granny, little sister and her fiancé and Kelci (my soon to be niece), albeit a little loud, as we are quite an animated bunch especially with an excitable 6 year old in the mix!!!

View from the walk round Mum & Dad's house - so pretty in the sun
My take on Outdoor chic

Can't believe that is another birthday gone, starting to feel old! Oh well i have been spoilt rotten by my family and had a fantastic weekend, even if i have eaten way to much cake!

28 and Fabulous

My take on Outdoor chic

Can't believe that is another birthday gone, starting to feel old! Oh well i have been spoilt rotten by my family and had a fantastic weekend, even if i have eaten way to much cake!

Since the day we chose to buy a house, I have been planning in my head what each room will look like, there is even a mood board on my coffee table with magazine clippings and fabric swatches. Even though it is not complete yet and wont be until July, I cannot stop looking longingly through interior design magazine and pinning like mad on pinterest, collating ideas and styles that I want to emulate in my beautiful new house (finding balance with hubby's taste is proving interesting as he has very different taste to me and would happily live a magnolia house!). I have a feeling for the next few months my fashion addition may give way to a house one instead - especially as I want to find some more interesting and individual pieces which will involve some hunting for, need to go to places like Home Sense who have so many amazing unique pieces.

My current obsession is a grey and yellow colour scheme that I have seen everywhere, this is something that i want to use in the living room, as it is quite a neutral palette and isn't too girly.  I love the mix of the neutral grey tones mixed with the bright yellow (yellow isn't normally a colour I like, not a flattering fashion colour on me however in the home I think it will be amazing). The beautiful birdcage wallpaper below is from B&Q and would make an amazing feature wall, however hubby is not impressed so not sure that will happen but I may need to buy a roll to make some pictures instead, so I can still use within the room as it is just gorgeous.

With my new grey corner sofa, white Ikea bookcases and black dvd storage and the accents of yellow picked out through cushions and some great feature pieces, I think this colour scheme could be a winner. My beautiful black and white wedding pictures would also look amazing in this room. Check out my Pinterest - For the Home board for more on this colour scheme and other great home ideas.

What do you think to Yellow & Grey as a colour scheme, would you use in your house? Would be great to see if you already have used, and how you have incorporated the pop of yellow - please share here or contact me via my links in the menu bar.

Just a quick post to show you this months purchases. Why is it when you have money to spend you can walk round every shop and find nothing yet the day you pop to town to return one item, you come back with six more? Well this pretty much sums up what happened!!
Due to buying a house i am having to curb my spending however i have a weakness for fashion and so need to get my fix in the discount stores. I was particularly impressed with Matalan, i have always visited for cheap basics and summer holiday items, so was very surprised by some of the more fashion forward pieces that i discovered.

My favourite pieces from this haul are the Lips cami top and the colourful sunglasses, a nice change from my style of usual black and oversized sunnies.

1. Lips Cami top £6 Matalan, 2.Tribal necklace £7.99 H&M, 3. Printed sunglasses £4.99 New Look,  4. Printed shorts £8 Matalan, 5. Black formal joggers £20 Dorothy Perkins,
6. Print joggers £28 Topshop

* Cute spring layering - ASOS basic swing dress, River Island tweed biker and Accessorize necklace. * New bangles from H&M, great for stacking up with my day to day pieces, i am such a sucker for the racks by the till point. * The best slogan T-shirt I have seen in a while, this great piece is from Next and a bargain at £16. * Loving the new Style Essentials from good old Dorothy Perkins, a great mix with something for every shape, particularly drawn to the block heel and soft trousers. * Willow's first selfie - think she looks very regal, whilst watching birds in the garden. * So happy spring has finally sprung!! * Think my obsession for Essie nail Polish is getting worse, my favourite shades so far for spring are - Lilacism, Mint candy apple and Sunday funday, all so pretty and fun.

* The first batch of Pinterest loves for March, some great transitional looks. * The great new printed pieces in my wardrobe check out my Prints post to see what pieces these are on.
* More street style favourites, with a great range of outfits and a fabulous illustration. * My new Primark midi skirt - my attempt at spring dressing, although styled with ankle boots it was a great transitional look. * Really liking the whole collar and statement necklace trend at the moment - mixing my H&M sleeveless shirt with my faithful Accessorize necklace. * My new Topshop sandals first appearance of the year, although need to wait for it warm up a little as blue toes not a good look! * Great shopping look, M&S drop waist dress, biker jacket and tartan scarf. * The final collection of style pics for this month, really love the lime midi skirt shot, not a usual colour but styled in a really cute way, check out my Pinterest link in the right menu bar for more. * These Topshop soft brogues are a great feminine flat that look great with summer dresses, really love the ribbon laces.

* Accessorize - another obsession! Check out my latest picks post - Accessorize. * The most amazing clutch ever, a fabulous mix of print and embellishment, sad but I am in love. * My new house is coming along nicely, nearly has a roof on, literally cannot wait till June, soooooo excited!! * My March purchases - clutch bag, Midi skirt from H&M and beautiful white lace sundress from Dorothy Perkins. * Never has this much post in 1 week. A great pair of trousers for the office when it gets warmer. * Forgot how much I love these cobalt platform heels - stylish and so comfortable, perfect heel height for work. * Willow's take on gardening, guarding the flower pots in the shed.

So March is over and now i am looking forward to my birthday - hoping the Easter weekend will be nice and sunny.
