Leading Ladies

I am always inspired when a fashion campaign comes out that uses real women - not just airbrushed celebrities that are stereo typically pretty and slim. M&S especially has impressed me in recent years with their mix of women used in their campaigns but the latest really embodies the spirit that M&S want to get across, a brand for all ages and shapes. The women used are all inspirational - from an actress to a nurse, a singer to an athlete, an incredible group of women who all have something to offer the world rather than just looking beautiful.
The group also includes one of my personal idols from the fashion world - Grace Coddington, the creative director of US Vogue and also the photographs were shot by one of my favourite photographers Annie Leibovitz, all in all a brand campaign that screams "Girl Power".
There is also a real British theme running though the photographs, cruising down the River Thames or in the English countryside, which seems appropriate for such a British brand like M&S.

The inspirational women:
Darcy Bussell, Jasmine Whitbread, Ellie Goulding, Katie Piper, Helen Mirren, Karen Elson, Monica Ali, Laura Mvula, Nicole Adams, Grace Coddington, Helen Allen, Tracy Emin.

Each shot in the campaign represents a different collection from the superbrand - Coats, Per Una and Partywear. All showcasing the variety available for women of all ages, something for everyone.

Whilst i have only seen the print campaign so far, a glossy centre insert in this month's Elle - i am sure a polished TV advert in true M&S style will follow probably ready for the festive season.

For more information on this amazing campaign see the M&S website here....
I cannot wait to see what this year's Christmas advert is from M&S, if this is anything to go by i can imagine it will be magical.

Hopefully these campaign shots will inspire another brand to consider using some of our British treasures, rather than the usual models. If i see Cara Delevingne in one more advert i will scream - flicking through Vogue or Elle these days she is on almost every other page!
Bring on more real British women!
